St. Clair County deputies believe that a rollover crash in Grant Township over the weekend was caused by speeding and alcohol usage.
The accident was reported from the intersection of Vincent and Burtch Roads around 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 26. Deputies found a vehicle rolled over with a 30-year-old Flint man still inside. While still at the scene, deputies received an additional call pertaining to the accident, this time from a home in the 7000 block of Vincent Road. Responding to the second call, police found a 34-year-old woman from Grant Township at the home with injuries from the accident.
Officers later learned that the woman was driving north on Vincent Road when she lost control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway and rolling several times before coming to a stop. Investigators found that, while the driver had been wearing her seatbelt, which later allowed her to escape from the vehicle, her passenger, the man from Flint, had not been wearing his.
The Flint man was freed by the efforts of the Grant Township and Fort Gratiot fire departments, and required medical transport to McLaren Port Huron Hospital, where he is reportedly in critical condition from his injuries. The Grant Township woman was also taken to McLaren Port Huron for treatment of her injuries.
