Elderly couple found dead in Gore Twp. home

Though preliminary investigation suggests it was illness or natural causes and not foul play, autopsies were ordered after two Gore Township residents were found dead in their home yesterday, Tuesday, December 13.
Huron Sheriff Kelly Hanson explained via press release that deputies had been sent Tuesday afternoon to perform a wellness check on the 70-something couple living on Lighthouse Cove Drive, as family members had not seen either of them since Thanksgiving. Finding cars in the home’s driveway and the porch light on, deputies proceeded to knock on the unlocked door, entering the home when they were unanswered.
Though they strongly suspect they found the couple in separate rooms of the house, deputies could not identify the two bodies, due to the elderly pair having been dead for a few days when found. Struck by the oddness of the two having possibly died at the same time, deputies and the Port Hope Fire Department checked the residence’s carbon monoxide levels, but the levels were at a typical range and not increased.
Still trying to figure out when they were last seen, authorities are currently interviewing those in the neighborhood for any leads. The investigation is ongoing.
