Sandusky City Council thanks Roger Williamson for 9 years of service

With yesterday, December 19, being the last scheduled meeting of 2022 for Sandusky’s city council, it was also the last meeting for councilman Roger Williamson, who is stepping down after nine years.
His seat will be filled by incoming councilman Tim Stone, who was voted in this past November election. “It was a difficult decision not to run again,” Williamson noted after councilwoman Virginia Bissett was the first to thank him for his service.
However, he believes he’s leaving the city in good hands with his successor and his colleagues remaining on the council. Williamson also reflected on the city and its community, saying “The one thing that I really appreciate, comparing it to other communities, is the stability.”
He went on to thank and praise the council members, Mayor Thomas Lukshaitis, City Manager Dave Faber, Police Chief Brett Lester and the city’s department of public works before Mayor Lukshaitis returned the favor. After presenting Williamson with a plaque, the mayor thanked him for his modest and hard-working nature: “A lot of things Roger does, nobody knows about. I hope you just keep right on and doing those things.”
With that, the council adjourned, with the next scheduled regular meeting being Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
