The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office had a busy holiday weekend, dealing with 65 complaints, including accidents and vehicles in ditches, due the blizzard-like weather conditions.
One example is a single-vehicle accident on Peck Road in Buel Township, reported shortly before 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 23, with the driver taken by Croswell EMS to McKenzie Hospital for minor injuries. Assisting at the scene were Elk Township Fire & Rescue teams.
Then on Christmas, Deckerville Police and the Sanilac Sheriff’s Office banded together to locate a local resident who had been last seen only two days prior. Unfortunately, when authorities did find the resident’s car in a Custer Township field, the missing man, 87-year-old Marvin Kritzman of Deckerville, was already deceased. The incident is believed to be weather related.
