A Huron County educator, Dr. Samantha Corrion, was honored with an Excellence in Education award from the Michigan Lottery.
Corrion has been a music education teacher at Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Laker Schools for more than fifteen years and is known for sharing her passion for music with her students. She was nominated by her 11-year-old daughter.
“Dr. Corrion is an outstanding professional and teacher. She knows her passion for music and encourages students to strive for their best. She is always looking out for students and helps out when she can.”
Recipients of this award receive a plaque, a $1,500 cash prize, and a $500 grant to their classroom, school, or school district. Each winner is also featured in a news segment on the Lottery’s media partner stations: WXYZ-TV in Detroit, FOX 17 in Grand Rapids, FOX 47 in Lansing, and WNEM-TV in Saginaw.
The Excellence in Education awards were established by the Michigan Lottery in 2014 to help recognize outstanding public-school educators across the state in areas of excellence, dedication, inspiration, leadership, and effectiveness.
