This past Thursday, the Marine City Police Department was notified at 8:30 AM by Marine City High School’s administration of a bomb threat.
The school, along with Marine City Middle School and Riverview Campus, was immediately put on lockdown on February 9th, 2023. By 9:17 AM, all students were evacuated via buses to East China School District’s central office at the Innovation Center on Meisner Road.
An explosive detection K9 unit was brought in from the Port Huron Police Department to conduct a full sweep of the building. All three campuses were secured by 11:34 AM and no bombs were discovered. At this time, an investigation is currently ongoing. There have been no plans made to reopen the school, however, those with any further questions are urged to contact the school directly.
The Marine City Police Department would like to thank the Marine City Area Fire Authority, Marine City DPW, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, K9 Officer Sly of Port Huron Police, St. Clair County Emergency Management and East China School District Administrators for their assistance.
