The Marlette Board of Education will be holding a special meeting tonight, Thursday, March 9, at 7:00 p.m. to have personnel discussion.
While the school district has had its fair share of personnel difficulties, including an exodus of about 20 teachers since February 2022, this may be in reference to deciding if Superintendent Matthew Karaffa will be brought back following an investigation into his alleged conduct towards and treatment of teachers in the school district. The investigation started after the board’s special meeting earlier this year on January 19.
The decision would come following the removal of his athletic director duties at a February special meeting, after an already rescheduled game was canceled earlier that week due to lack of officials. At the same meeting, the board named varsity boys basketball coach Tristin Pennington to the role in the interim, with the position for next school year recently posted and open for applications.
The board will be meeting in the elementary school library, where they will also meet on March 13 at 7:00 p.m. for their regular monthly meetings.
