With the new owners of the Harrington Restaurant in Brown City expressing interest, city manager Charles Bennett reported to Brown City’s council at last Monday night’s meeting that the city might be able to sell one of its parking lots to the establishment.
Bennett plans to meet with the business owners regarding a possible sale, with the council having been interested in selling this particular lot, which is behind Harrington Restaurant and has a current taxable value of almost $15,000.
The council also approved a resolution at the March 27 meeting to amend the 2022-2023 budget to better reflect the year’s financial activities, as well as wage raises for staff members. For instance, the DPW and police chief received five percent raises based on their contracts, while the city’s clerk,  office administration and custodian received four percent raises.
Also approved for raises were Brown City Police Officers Mark Perez, Brenden Ecker and Brandon Ford, with City Manager Bennett noting that the three “were all hired less than a year but are doing a great job and [the city] wanted to show appreciation.”
Mayor Julie Miller also announced at this past Monday’s meeting that the city’s Memorial Day parade will be on Monday, May 29, at 10:00 a.m.
