A single-vehicle rollover in Maple Valley Township on Tuesday morning sent a 44-year-old Shelby Township driver to the hospital, as he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Brooks Road scene, near Maple Valley Road, around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, accompanied by Marlette EMS and the Brown City Fire Department.
Investigation determined that the 44-year-old man had been driving west in his 2003 Honda Odyssey when he lost control on the gravel roadway. Losing control, the vehicle left the roadway, entering the north ditch before overturning, which ejected the driver.
The driver was treated on scene and transported to Marlette Regional Hospital, later being transferred by Flight Care to Saginaw’s Covenant Hospital.
Speeding and seatbelt usage appear to be factors in the crash. Deputies were assisted on the scene by Brown City Police.
