The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners met yesterday, April 11, to review and approve the 2023 Equalization Report, as mandated for all counties across Michigan.
The equalization process is vital to guaranteeing that properties are assessed at 50% of market value, as required by the state. County Equalization serves as a check on assessments determined at the local level, ensuring they are fair and equitable across the county.  Sanilac County’s total equalized value in 2023 is $3,113,256,657.
Aside from the report and its review, the Board of Commissioners also authorized the purchase of wireless card access doors, digital security cameras, an enclosed trailer for the Sheriff’s office, and a new garage door at the recycling center. They also authorized the Lexington Park Maintenance Building Project.
