Metamora Township Police believe speed was a factor in a fatal crash on Thursday afternoon in Lapeer County.
According to a news release, officers with the department were dispatched on Thursday, April 13 around 3:30 p.m. due to reports of a one-car crash on Metamora Road, near Stock Road.
Initial investigation found that the vehicle, a black 2014 four-door Chrysler 200, was speeding north on Metamora Road, driven by a 17-year-old girl from Metamora, when the vehicle left the road and hit a tree. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Metamora Township Fire Department with the Jaws of Life, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
