The Sanilac County Drug Task Force revealed today that this past Saturday’s National Drug Take Back Day saw 245.6 pounds of medicine turned in across the county.
This also includes medications dropped off since the last Take Back Day Event in October 2022. The county drug discard drop boxes, placed at the Sandusky Police Department, as well as at the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Task Force offices, collected a total of 144.2 pounds of pills.
Meanwhile, individual police department collection efforts were also successful, yielding the following results: Brown City Police Department collected 10.6 pounds of pills; Croswell Police collected 43.2 pounds; Deckerville collected 68 pounds; Marlette collected 32.4 pounds; and Peck Police collected 3.2 pounds.
All weights are taken after being removed from containers and packaging. The Drug Task Force also announced that there will be a new drop box location at the Lexington Village Office building / Lexington Police Department scheduled for delivery some time in May 2023.
