Just one of several projects St. Clair County has in the works this week, Sperry Road between Terry Road and Belle River Road in Berlin Township will be closed to traffic starting this week.
The work on Sperry Road includes removing the existing concrete bridge deck and replacing it with a new concrete deck, road approach paving and guardrail. Sperry Road will be closed for approximately 60 consecutive days, starting on Monday, April 24. The estimated completion date for the project is June 23rd, 2023. A detour will be posted during the closure of Sperry Road, and will be using Belle River Road to Capac Road to Terry Road.
Access will be maintained for local traffic within the construction limits during the closure, while emergency vehicles will have access to local properties throughout the entire project. Access across the Belle River on Sperry Road will NOT be permitted. Local residents are encouraged to plan for delays due to construction.
This project is financed by the St. Clair County Road Commission, the State of Michigan, and the Federal Highway Administration at a total estimated cost for construction of $743,500. The prime contractor is Z Contractors, Inc. In addition to this project, the St. Clair County Road Commission recently announced several more across the county taking place this week.
The following projects are weather dependent, and are expected to cause intermittent lane closures. Casco Township’s Meisner Road will be having hot rubber laid down between County Line and Bethuy roads, while Mussey Township’s Bryce Road will have daytime road closures for ditching this week from Capac’s village limits to about 800 feet east of city limits.
Kenockee and Kimball Townships saw their projects actually begin last week and stretch into this week, with ditching on Kilgore Road between Bryce and Rynn roads in Kenockee Township continuing. While Kimball Township’s project began last week, Wales Township is now included in the planned work, with Sparling Road between Wales Center and Griswold roads having hot rubber applied as well.
