Sandusky Police Chief receives high praise during annual evaluation

sandusky-2-2-2

With City Police Chief Brett Lester earning another glowing evaluation for his work, the Sandusky City Council approved that and more at their first meeting for May Monday night.
In addition to commending Chief Lester on his work over the past year, the council heard via the evaluation process other items the chief has in the works and hopes to accomplish, such as having the Sandusky Police Department accredited through the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police.
He also hopes to help transform the four remaining acres by the Sanilac House of Hope (located on Sandusky’s Elk Street) into a new innovative and affordable neighborhood for the community.
In addition to Chief Lester’s evaluation, City Manager Dave Faber noted at Monday’s meeting that he is currently working with the Zoning Board of Appeals on many permits, fence applications and requests, as well as drafting two new airport hangar leases along with a master rate and agreement for the airport hangars.
City Manager Faber also had his performance evaluation approved at the May 1 meeting, an unexpected item added to new business but approved unanimously.
The council also approved a street sale application for the Sandusky Lions Club’s White Cane Fundraiser on May 12, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Sandusky, as well as a resolution asking the state to reconsider house bill 5054.
