A Port Sanilac man landed in the hospital late Saturday morning after going over a cliff on South Lakeshore (M-25) near French Line Road.
On Saturday, May 13, around 10:45 a.m., Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting a single vehicle personal injury crash in Sanilac Twp, with the reporting party advising dispatch that the vehicle had left the roadway and went down a large embankment along Lake Huron. Sanilac County Sheriff deputies along with the Port Sanilac Fire Department and Sanilac EMS were dispatched to the scene.
Deputies’ initial investigation determined that a 2013 Cadillac ATS driven by a 30-year-old Port Sanilac male was traveling south on S. Lakeshore Road and began to pass a vehicle. The driver of the Cadillac did not see the oncoming traffic when he began to pass and swerved to the left to avoid a collision.
After leaving the roadway, the vehicle traveled south along the roadside where the vehicle went down a large embankment and came to rest on large rocks along the shoreline of Lake Huron. The driver was transported from the scene to McKenzie Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and it appears the subject was wearing his seatbelt during the crash. The vehicle was recovered by Preferred Towing.
