The Carsonville-Port Sanilac School Board met last Tuesday, May 9 to discuss not only their school seniors’ successful prom, decision day and trip, but to also approve the sale of Series II Bonds to fund the district schools’ roof replacements.
The bond sale is Series II of the 2020 recapture approval of the dropping millage rate, with the sale anticipated to bring the district $950,000 and pay for replacement of roofs on both buildings. In terms of the roof project bids, there were 5 bidders, with Beyer Roofing being the low bid at a little over $736,000. The project will start when funds arrive at the end of the summer.
Another project that will be out for bid soon is the district’s pole barn, which serves as maintenance/housekeeping storage. Though it is currently planned to fund the pole barn project via the general fund, excess Series II bond money from the roof project may be available, with possibly up to $214,000 left over.
