In order to expand available prescription disposal drop box locations, the Sanilac County Drug Task Force has purchased an additional secure lock box and placed it in the Village of Lexington Office building (located at 7227 Huron St. in Lexington).
The box has been placed at the Lexington location in conjunction with the Lexington Police Department. The box can be accessed during normal village business office hours to dispose of your expired, unused (hard pill) prescription medications. The Drop box should not be used for medical equipment, or liquid medications.
All medications collected are turned over to the D.E.A. for proper disposal (generally incineration). This helps keep unused drugs out of the hands of those it was not intended for and prevents disposing of them in landfills and water systems.
