With registration ending at midnight tonight, the 6th Annual Croswell Library Parks & Paths 5K will be off to a running start tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.
This will be the fourth year running the new route beginning and ending at the Croswell Splash Pad. The full route goes through downtown Croswell’s Commercial District, across the Black River, around neighborhood streets, into the Swinging Bridge Park, back over the Black River and returns to the Splash Pad. There’s a Strava segment in there too for those who are interested in that kind of thing.
Registration is $35 per person, with a $5 discount available when signing up two or more people at a time. Runners earn prizes for first, second, and third overall (male and female categories). Under 13, 13-19, 20-39, Master (40-59), and Grandmaster (60+) runners (male and female) can earn prizes for first place in their respective age groups. All participants will earn a custom medal featuring a variety of classic books.
Any male or female who sets a new record will receive a free entry into next year’s race. Last year, the course records were not broken. The men’s record is 18:40 and is held by Garrett Jurges. The female record is 21:12 and is held by Daneille Fowler, breaking her own record from the previous year. All proceeds from this event will benefit Aitkin Memorial District Library.
Again, registration ends at midnight, and the race starts at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. You can find the event and registration for it on the library’s Facebook page at Aitkin Memorial District Library.
