The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday that a man involved in a motorcycle crash last Friday is in critical but stable condition.
The crash occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, while Imlay City Police officers investigated an unrelated two-car crash on Cedar Street/M-53, north of Newark Road in the city.
A 27-year-old Pigeon man on a 2009 Harley Davidson attempted to brake as he approached the police cruiser, seeing its flashing lights, but was unable to brake in time, instead hitting the back of the car. There were no officers in the car at the time, and the man was taken to McLaren Lapeer Regional Hospital with several injuries.
As of Monday, he remains in critical but stable condition.
The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office is heading the investigation into the crash, with deputies assisted at the scene by Lapeer County EMS, the Imlay City Police and Fire departments, Almont Police Department and the Lapeer County Reconstruction Team.
