Recent low-flying helicopters part of electric work inspections

Thumb-area residents could be seeing low-flying helicopters in their area over the next few weeks.
But ITC Michigan–which manages much of the state’s electrical infrastructure–says citizens shouldn’t be alarmed at the sight of any low-flying choppers. The overhead patrols are part of a national annual requirement to check for worn equipment and hazardous vegetation along power lines.
ITC says their helicopters will be inspecting power lines, poles and steel towers from now through June 8th. Counties in the listening area being inspected include Sanilac, Huron, Lapeer, Tuscola, Genesee, Gratiot, Isabella, Oakland and Shiawassee counties.
