With community garage sales starting today in Sandusky, this year’s Thumb Festival is underway, with the fun really starting this Friday, June 23.
While Wednesday and Thursday will focus on garage sales and the Eva’s Place/Save Council Glow Walk, Friday kicks off with the Sanilac County Senior Fair from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Sandusky High School.
Also starting on Friday is the Firemen’s Beverage and Entertainment Tent downtown and the first of the city’s Lawn Chair Music Series at the county courthouse, with food trucks also parking downtown for the day. On Saturday, in addition to the Firemen’s Tent and food trucks being available throughout the day downtown, Sandusky will see the annual arts and crafts show on the courthouse lawn from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Early risers on Saturday could take part in the Run for Life 5k walk/run or the 3-on-3 tournament at Doerr Field, both starting at 8:00 a.m. Saturday is for the kids with a petting zoo and pet parade at Stonegate, kids day at the county fairgrounds featuring inflatables, games and more, and the kids pedal tractor pull at Tri-County Equipment. With live music starting at 1:00 p.m. and a cornhole tournament at 4:00 p.m., there’s a little bit of something for everyone on Saturday.
On Sunday, enjoy the Fly-In Pancake Breakfast at the Sandusky Airport before the parade at 1:00 p.m., with the parade planned to start at Westpark Plaza and head east on M-46 to South Morse Street.
