One dead, one injured after Tuesday morning domestic violence shooting in Peck

One is dead and another wounded after a very early Tuesday morning incident the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office is calling a domestic violence shooting.
Around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting a shooting incident at a residence in the 5700 block of Mills Street in the Village of Peck. Sanilac County Sheriff’s Deputies, Michigan State Police and the Brown City Police Department responded to the scene.
At the home, deputies found the caller, a 19-year-old man who was uninjured in the incident. It is not clear if he was present for the shooting or if he only came upon the aftermath and called police.
The homeowner, a 46-year-old man, was found with two apparent gunshot wounds, while another resident of the home, a 38-year-old woman was found deceased with an apparent gunshot wound. The 46 year -old man was transported to McKenzie Hospital by Tri-EMS, and later transferred to out of the area hospitals for further treatment of his injuries.
The incident is still under investigation by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau. Names and any further details are being withheld at this time.
