Tuscola County Sheriff deputies report that a brief Monday chase ultimately ended in surrender after the suspect was tracked down by the department’s K9 unit.
On Monday, July 17, Kingston Police reported that after chasing a vehicle, the driver had fled into the woods in Lapeer County. The Tuscola County Sheriff’s K9, Blek, and his handler, Sergeant Ryan Robinson, responded to the scene and tracked the suspect. As officers and the dog approached, the suspect surrendered.
In 2022, as handler and K9, Sergeant Robinson and Blek provided five sweeps for explosives, aided in the tracking efforts of 21 people with 11 successful finds and several other finds by assisting officers.
According to Sheriff Glen Skrent, the office is in the process of obtaining another K9 dog for drug detection and tracking.
