In addition to the Eastern Michigan State Fair in Imlay City kicking off today, Thumb residents can look forward to closing out July with Yale’s Bologna Festival, Friday July 28- Sunday July 30.
Going on thirty-three years, this three-day weekend event has been a community-wide tradition since 1989. This year’s overall theme encourages you to rock your way through the ‘50s. Yale might be rewinding the clock, but there are plenty of new events this year, including pony rides and a petting zoo in Yale Park, face painting by Wonderwolf, the Timber Creek Exotic animal show, and laser tag!
The crowning of the royalty has been around since the inception of the festival, but there’s a twist this time around. The Yale Bologna Festival is pleased to announce the new Dukes and Duchesses of Bologna!
It all kicks off Friday, July 28th. Events start at 10 AM with the Rhodes Fitness Workout for all ages, and go out with a bang at 10:15 PM thanks to the fireworks display. On Saturday, July 29th, make sure you’re up bright and early for the 5K Fun Run at 8 AM. Then there’s street dancing with DJ Anthony Martin at 8:30 PM.
Don’t forget the bologna! Great food will be served all weekend long in the food tent and food trucks located throughout the festival. Finish off your fun-filled weekend with the Pancake Breakfast from 8 AM to 11 AM on Sunday, July 30th.
Make the most of your day though, because the festival closes at 3 PM.
