Brown City council wraps up July with meeting, considers DPW proposals

Brown City’s council met last night, July 24, to discuss two proposals from the Department of Public Works for a generator and an air compressor, with City Manager Charles Bennett also informing the council of a DPW work order request form that is now at city hall.
If a DPW task request needs to be done outside of a regular meeting, Bennett urged the council to fill out a work order form, which he will then receive to research and assign it to the department. He says that the process will help streamline requests coming in and help on their end with trackability.
Also starting in Brown City on Monday was the city’s construction project of Second and George Streets, with yesterday seeing contracted firm Astec Asphalt bringing in their equipment.
Today, crews are to begin widening Second Street from George Street up to John Street before the current street surface is removed and repaved. The project is slated to end by September 1st, with the city hoping to have the Second Street portion completed by the start of school.
