In addition to appointing Nurse Practitioner Angela Weber to the county’s Community Mental Health Board and reappointing Kurt Wentzel to the Library Board, the Sanilac County Board of Commissioners approved an agreement between Professional Counseling Center, P.C. and the county’s Health and Human Services department.
The agreement, not to exceed $90,000 in cost, would see the county contract services from the Port Huron based center for in-home Life Skill training for eligible families and situations in Sanilac County. The program has received positive testimonials from workers in Children’s Protective Services and Juvenile Justice, saying that the in-home program allows for children to stay with their families, rather than be placed in foster care or juvenile detention.
In addition to this agreement, the board authorized funding for the Blue Water Conservation District, which entails a three-year commitment to providing a full time technician to help implement farm bill programs in the county. The amount is not to exceed $10,000 per year through 2026’s fiscal year, with the money coming from the Environmental Trust Fund.
