Marlette Police and the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office are thanking the community for their help in identifying a breaking and entering suspect in under 12 hours.
Shortly before 2:45 a.m. yesterday morning, August 10, officers were dispatched to the Marlette Speedy Q at 2998 Main Street after an alarm was tripped. Speedy Q employees off site were able to access cameras in the building and determined that a subject was inside.
The suspect, armed with a gun and possibly a billy club, was wearing a black balaclava, black sweatpants and shoes and a navy gray sweatshirt. They fled on foot upon the arrival of responding officers and were not located after a brief foot chase in the dark.
Deputies were assisted on scene by the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit. The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and the Marlette Police Department in a joint investigation into this incident received multiple tips. Through these tips, investigators were able to identify a 12 year old subject and executed a search warrant in the City of Marlette.
