With two new items added to the agenda before the Monday meeting began, the Sandusky City Council moved forward on the city’s 2024-2025 project with MDOT.
In addition to approving a consent to construct an easement for MDOT, the council heard from City Manager Dave Faber that the city is receiving a $2.6 million grant and loan forgiveness for the project.
Back in May, Faber noted that the projects will include improvements on M-46 from Maple Valley Street to the west limits of the village of Carsonville, and M-19 from Miller Road to M-46 (Sanilac Road).  As part of the projects, the M-46 bridge over the Black River will be replaced. The M-46 portion of the project is slated to begin in March 2024, while M-19’s work is expected to begin in late April of 2025.
In addition to these project updates, Faber noted that Jefferson Street will be finished once the school’s paving is complete, and next week will see Lincoln Street and its adjoining alleyway being worked on, with a water issue to address. At the August 7th meeting, the council also approved two-hour parking for the first two rows of the Lexington Street parking lot, which will take effect at the start of next month, on Friday, September 1.
