accident

A Friday morning accident in Austin Township saw one woman injured and a semi-truck in a neighbor’s yard, according to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.

Central Dispatch reports receiving the call around 6:45 a.m. on Friday, August 18, about a two vehicle personal injury accident at the intersection of Ubly Road and Bay City-Forestville Road. Deputies along with the Argyle Fire Department and Sanilac EMS were dispatched to the scene.

According to deputies, a 57-year-old female from Minden City was driving a 2019 Ford Escape eastbound on Bay City-Forestville Road when she failed to stop at Ubly Road’s intersection’s stop sign, colliding instead with a 1998 International Semi.

The International Semi, hauling an asphalt trailer north on Ubly Road, was being driven by a 60-year-old man from Sandusky. The collision caused the International Semi to jack-knife, coming to rest in a yard at the northeast corner of the intersection.

The Semi driver was uninjured in the crash, while the driver of the Ford Escape was transported to McLaren Thumb Region in Bad Axe by Sanilac EMS for treatment of injuries.
