Only one person was injured after a car and ATV crash in Tuscola County’s Novesta Township on Saturday night.
On Saturday, August 26, Michigan State Troopers from the Caro branch were dispatched to Phillips Road north of Shabbona Road in Novesta Township for a car vs. ATV crash. An ATV broke down and was stopped on the bridge of White Creek Road, facing the wrong direction.
People were working on the ATV, a 2005 Massimo Side-by-Side, when a northbound vehicle, a 2015 Chevy Cruze, approached on Phillips Road. The driver of the car, a 30-year-old male from Deford, did not see the ATV stopped on the bridge. The driver took evasive action but was unable to avoid striking the ATV.
The impact caused a person sitting in the ATV, a 40-year-old male from Deford, to be thrown into the water/creek below.The 40-year-old was transported by MMR to an out of area hospital for serious injuries.
The driver of the Cruze was not injured. Other people standing around the ATV, when the crash occurred, were also not injured.
Michigan State Caro Post Troopers were assisted by MMR and the Cass City Fire Department.
