Authorities say that a drug bust last Tuesday, August 22, saw two arrests and the seizure of a dealer quantity of methamphetamine from a Port Huron Township hotel room.

The incident began with a traffic stop and an arrest, leading St. Clair County Drug Task Force agents to search a hotel room and find a large amount of methamphetamine. While it is not clear who was arrested during the traffic stop, St. Clair County authorities have arrested Jonathan Washington, age 44 of Port Huron and 41-year-old Crystal Shafer of Fort Gratiot on charges of possession with intent to deliver meth, maintaining a drug house and being habitual offenders.

Both are being held at the St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center, with Shafer having a $10,000 bond and Washington having a $15,000 bond.

Only three days later, the St. Clair County Drug Task Force seized more methamphetamine from a hotel room, this time in Port Huron.

37-year-old Kari McMurtry of Port Huron was arrested on possession with intent to deliver and maintaining a drug house after DTF agents searched a local motel. They had been investigating sales of methamphetamine on the property, finding money, scales, paraphernalia and a dealer’s quantity of meth during their search.

McMurtry is being held on a $30,000 bond, cash/surety, at the St.Clair County Intervention and Detention Center.
