Arrested Wednesday night on five charges after shooting a gun at his roommate, a 37-year-old Marlette man will be facing a second arraignment today, Friday, September 15, after five more charges were added during his Thursday arraignment.
Russell Julius Spruytte of Marlette has been charged with 10 felonies, including two charges of assault with intent to murder, two charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, felony firearm and ammunition possession, discharging a weapon at/in a building and three charges of possessing/using a weapon while committing a crime.
The charges stem from his actions after an argument with his roommate Wednesday night, when Spruytte shot at the other person. With a warrant, officers later found the weapon and other evidence at the shared home in the 6500 block of Little Street.
Initially only charged with the two counts of assault with intent to murder, discharging the weapon and owning ammunition and a firearm as a previously convicted felon, Spruytte was charged with the other five crimes after his Thursday afternoon arraignment in the Sanilac County 73rd District Court.
He will be formally arraigned on the new charges on Friday, at 3:30 p.m., before District Judge Gregory Ross. He is still being held at the Sanilac County Jail.
