Sanilac County Sheriff deputies report that a single-vehicle crash Friday night resulted in severe injuries after both the driver and one of his passengers were ejected from the car.
Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call Friday, September 15, around 11:00 p.m., reporting a single vehicle personal injury accident on Gates Road near Eddy Road in Sanilac County’s Custer Township. Deputies along with the Sandusky Fire Department, Sanilac EMS and Marlette EMS responded to the scene.
According to deputies, the driver, a 49-year-old Snover man, was traveling north on Gates Road when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle entered the east ditch of Gates Road causing it to overturn. The driver of the vehicle was ejected out of the vehicle, as was his 50-year-old female passenger, who’d been seated in the front middle seat.
A third passenger, a 41-year-old woman, was not ejected but was injured.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to McKenzie Hospital and later transferred via Survival Flight to Flint Hurley Hospital for treatment of injuries. The women was also transported to McKenzie Hospital for their injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash.
