With the first month of school drawing to a close, Marlette, Carsonville-Port Sanilac, Croswell-Lexington and Sandusky schools all held their board of education meetings within the last two weeks, updating their respective communities about new changes and early accomplishments for the districts.
Marlette Schools’ Board of Education met Tuesday, September 12, with newest board member Michele Mausolf taking her oath during the meeting. Also during Tuesday’s meeting, Superintendent James Marshall updated the board on the Elementary School’s office construction, with doors and windows to come in soon and installation to begin September 25. Marshall also presented the board with Athletic Director Tristin Pennington’s recommendation to discontinue soccer as a school sponsored sport.
Meanwhile, the CPS school district held their meeting a day prior, Monday, September 11, and enjoyed experimenting with the new virtual reality goggles recently acquired for classroom use. The board also approved the raising of bus driver pay, effective immediately, with first year bus drivers to earn $100 a day and drivers who have been with the district three-plus years to earn $140 a day.
Sandusky Community Schools’ board met earlier this week, on Monday, September 18, hearing updates from student representatives Bryce Reinke and Sasha Woodbeck about upcoming Homecoming plans and other student activities. The board also approved the hiring of two aides, and accepted the resignation of James Minard as Varsity Baseball Coach.
Finally, Croswell-Lexington Schools’ board also met Monday, with the board approving the contract of interim High School Assistant Principal Ronald Miller. In addition, they approved the purchase of laptops for their staff, plus two new hires at Meyer Elementary. The district’s Curriculum, Instruction and HR Director Kyle Wood presented the district’s annual education report, with the board approving said report.
