46-year-old man caught in the act of stealing catalytic converters in Worth Township

A suspect was caught red handed early Saturday morning, with Sandusky Police and Sanilac County Sheriff deputies walking up on the 46-year-old as he attempted to steal a catalytic converter.
Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a call Saturday, September 30, around 2:45 a.m., reporting a male subject stealing items from vehicles in Watertown Township. The caller reported that the man was dressed in all black as he robbed vehicles at a business near the 400 block of S. Sandusky Road.
Deputies, along with Sandusky Police, were dispatched to the scene. Arriving at the scene, officers observed a man underneath a vehicle, with the 46-year-old Worth Township man in the midst of removing the vehicle’s catalytic converter when confronted.
The man was arrested at the scene and lodged at the Sanilac County Jail, awaiting his Monday arraignment on attempted larceny from a motor vehicle and attempted assault or resisting of an officer during arrest.
