A 21-year-old Croswell man will be arraigned this afternoon for the Monday morning knife assault at Michigan Sugar.

Damon Jay Lumley, booked just before 8:00 a.m. on October 2, will appear before Sanilac County District Court Judge Gregory Ross today for his 3:00 p.m. arraignment.

The Croswell man will be arraigned on three charges: felony assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, felony assault with a dangerous weapon, and misdemeanor aggravated assault. Lumley could face up to ten years in prison if convicted of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

Croswell Police confirmed Monday that there was an incident at Michigan Sugar early that morning, with the situation allegedly involving a man being stabbed in the head and side. Community reports say that the victim is in stable condition.

Officials at Croswell-Lexington Community Schools informed parents that, after buses began Monday morning routes, the school had been notified of the incident, with the suspect still at large. However, while the schools contacted the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office to determine the safest course of action for students, the suspect was apprehended.

Lumley is still currently in custody of the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, with his bond to be set at this afternoon’s arraignment.
