A 21-year-old Croswell man was arraigned Wednesday afternoon for the Monday morning knife assault at Michigan Sugar.

Damon Jay Lumley, booked just before 8:00 a.m. on October 2, appeared before Sanilac County District Court Judge Gregory Ross yesterday for his 3:00 p.m. arraignment.

The Croswell man stood mute as he was arraigned on three charges: felony assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, felony assault with a dangerous weapon, and misdemeanor aggravated assault. Lumley could face up to ten years in prison if convicted of assault with intent to do great bodily harm.

Croswell Police confirmed Monday that there was an incident at Michigan Sugar early that morning, with the situation allegedly involving a man being stabbed in the head and side. It is not clear if the stabbing was the result of a confrontation or unprovoked. Community reports say that the victim is in stable condition.

Lumley is still currently in custody of the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, with his bond set at $75,000 cash or surety. He is due back before Judge Ross on Tuesday, October 17, for his probable cause conference.
