In addition to hearing and approving the 2022 audit report on Tuesday, the Sanilac County Board of Commissioners also approved several contracts to assist the 24th Circuit Court’s Juvenile Division during their first October meeting.
The commissioners met October 3 to approve a contract for school intervention officer services between the court and contractor Nicholas Nemitz, with Nemitz to be paid about $22 an hour to provide truancy and behavioral intervention services for the county. Nemitz was also approved to provide services as a Regional Detention Support Services quasi-volunteer, alongside contractor Jeffery Dawson, with both being paid around $18 an hour when providing transportation and holdover services for court supervised youth.
In addition to these approvals, the board also appointed Cole Wood to fill the vacant District 2 seat on the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority. The term Wood was appointed to is a partial one ending December 31, 2023. It is unclear who will fill the position after Wood.
