Sanilac County Sheriff warns community about recent scam calls

sanilac-sheriff-patch

The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday morning that there have been many scam calls reported recently, with most scammers pretending to be police.
The Sanilac County Central Dispatch has had an influx of calls on October 5 from area residents receiving calls from individuals claiming to be law enforcement and demanding payment to settle bogus arrest warrants.
The sheriff’s office would like to remind citizens that police officers in any jurisdiction will not ask for you to pay over the phone to settle warrants for your arrest. They also advise to not give out any of your personal information to these individuals, and to please hang up and block their numbers.
If you have been scammed out of money, please contact your local law enforcement agency to make a report.
