The Port Huron Police Department is excited to announce that they are hosting the USPCA Region 19 K9 certifications this year.
The United States Police Canine Association is the largest and oldest active organization of its kind, with this year’s certification including Detector, Tracking, and Patrol Dogs.
Starting yesterday, Sunday, October 22, and running through Friday, October 27, approximately 25 to 30 K9 teams will be participating from all over Michigan. During the week, K9 exercises will be conducted at different locations throughout Port Huron and St. Clair County.
The USPCA Region 19 organization helps unite all law enforcement agencies that utilize canines to aid in the prevention and detection of crime. The USPCA also establishes a minimum working standard to improve the canine’s abilities in police work, thereby rendering better service to the community.
