The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) closed the off and on ramps at Lapeer County’s westbound I-69 off and on ramps at Wilder Road for paving work this morning, October 31.
This work is part of an overall $54.5 million investment to rebuild more than 7 miles of I-69 from M-24 to Lake George Road. In 2022, crews rebuilt the westbound lanes of I-69. This year, crews addressed the eastbound lanes of I-69 and are currently rebuilding the Five Lakes Rest Area.
The project is expected to last until Thursday, November 30 of this year.
Both the westbound I-69 off and on ramps at Wilder Road will be closed so crews can correct deficiencies in the pavement. The right lane of westbound I-69 will be closed at the interchange.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 774 jobs, with the work aimed at rebuilding an aging roadway and thus supporting commuter and commercial traffic.
