With November 7 being election day for those in Michigan, candidate elections are set to take place across the Thumb area. In St. Clair County, three city council members from Richmond will be running unopposed on the ballot.
Council members Emily Allen and John Warn have been on the council for eight years, having first been elected in November 2015 and then re-elected in 2019. In addition, as a retired member of the Richmond Volunteer Fire Department, council member Jim Schultz was elected to the council in November 1995 and served until 2015. He acted as the mayor pro-tempore from 1999 to 2001 and 2003 to 2015 before being appointed to the city council in April 2021 and January 2023.
Meanwhile, St. Clair County voters within Anchor Bay, Yale, and Elmwood will be making their way to the polls Tuesday to consider an operating millage for the Anchor Bay School District, a millage proposal for the Elmwood Cemetery, and a proposal for an adult-use marijuana provisioning center.
