Michigan State Police and the Port Huron Police Department are investigating a death that occurred Saturday, November 4, after an altercation inside and outside of a bar located in the 400 block of Quay Street.
Port Huron Police Officers were dispatched last Saturday shortly after 2:10 a.m. to the area of Michigan Avenue and Quay Street for a large fight and a subject being held down by bouncers from the Roche bar. Once officers arrived on scene, they helped secure the 26-year-old man being held down by bar staff before recognizing that the man was unresponsive.
The officers and bar staff began performing life saving measures while waiting for emergency medical services to arrive. Though he was transported by EMS for medical attention, shortly after arriving at McLaren Hospital, the subject, Joshua Conant of Port Huron, was pronounced deceased.
Michigan State Police is the lead investigating agency in this case and are being assisted by Port Huron Police Criminal Investigative Division and Major Crimes Unit (MCU). Port Huron Police road patrol and the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office road patrol assisted at the scene.
