Tuscola County Sheriff’s deputies had a tussle this morning with a Fostoria woman after being summoned to a domestic dispute scene.
On Wednesday, November 8, deputies were dispatched to Fostoria, being updated on the way to the scene that the incident was happening in front of the Fostoria Grocery store on Foster Street, with the involved parties being parked in a car when authorities arrived.
When Deputy Ashley Coleman approached the car, the driver took off in the vehicle, despite commands to stop and despite a passenger still getting out of the car when the driver began to flee. The vehicle fled for a few blocks, stopping on Maple Street near Lincoln Street, where the police caught up with her.
The driver failed to comply to commands, with a struggle ensuing and Deputy Coleman’s body-cam being knocked off and under the involved vehicle. Deputy Coleman was able to gain the upper hand, pinning the suspect to the ground until backup arrived. During the struggle, a Vassar police officer sustained some minor injuries and damage to his body camera.
The driver, a 37-year-old Fostoria woman, was placed under arrest for fleeing and eluding, resisting an officer and for operating while intoxicated.  The investigation into the original domestic dispute will continue.
Assisting at Wednesday’s scene was the Millington and Vassar Police Departments, and Michigan State Police.
