Only one school millage was passed between Lapeer and Tuscola counties, with voters electing to reject bond proposals from Kingston and Goodrich Area schools.
While Lapeer County’s Hadley Township voted 46 to 24 to renew Brandon School District’s operating millage, its citizens also chose to reject Goodrich Area Schools’ Sinking Fund Millage Proposal, with 125 voting against the millage and only 80 in favor.
Tuscola County voters, meanwhile, also rejected the Kingston Schools’ bond proposal, with 307 voting against and 275 voting for.
In other Lapeer County elections, city commissioner Joshua Atwood was re-elected to his position with 798 votes, while the three other incumbents in the race were beaten by challengers Melissa Petrie (609 votes), Linda Glisman (564 votes) and Stefan Brady (557 votes). The election winners will be sworn in at their next scheduled meeting, Monday, November 20.
