Tuscola County woman falls from tree stand, prompts cautionary reminder

With many hunters already taking to the woods and the regular firearm hunting season slated to begin next week, Thumb authorities are urging caution to those using tree stands, with an incident in Tuscola County highlighting that caution.
Yesterday, Sergeant Jordan Wade with the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Murphy Lake Road in Watertown Township after a woman reportedly fell from a tree stand. Sergeant Wade assisted EMS and the Fostoria Fire Department at the scene, with the woman being transported to the hospital due to injuries.
The Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office is urging the public to be careful when using tree stands, especially as temperatures plummet and stands become slippery. The office noted via social media that “it does not take much of a fall to cause injury.”
