Sanilac County Sheriff deputies dealt with a second accident this weekend, this time on Sunday afternoon in Wheatland Township.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a report of a vehicle that was upside down and submerged in a ditch near the 1600 block of Deckerville Road in Wheatland Township. Deputies along with the Deckerville Fire Department and Sanilac EMS were dispatched to the scene.
Initial investigation determined that a 26-year-old Snover man had been driving west on Deckerville Road in his 2010 Ford Fusion when he drove off the roadway, crashed into a guardrail and landed the car upside down in a ditch. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to Deckerville Hospital, later being transferred to St. Mary’s for treatment of his injuries.
Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash. Deputies were assisted on scene by the Michigan DNR Law Enforcement Division, and Sanilac County Dive Team. Names are being withheld during this ongoing investigation, as well.
