Lexington man bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court for October 2022 killing of Shelby Twp. woman

Almost a year after his original arrest, a 20-year-old Lexington man was bound over to Macomb County’s 16th Judicial Circuit Court on charges related to the October 2022 death of a Shelby Township woman.
The then-19-year-old  Stephen Freeman was arrested late last October after he abandoned his vehicle at the scene of an accident, with police finding the body of 62-year-old Gabriele Seitz in the back of the abandoned pickup truck.
Authorities believe that on October 27, Freeman entered the home of 62-year-old Gabriele Seitz through a window while she was away. Upon her arrival home, police believe the two fought, with the prosecutor’s press release noting that the altercation “result[ed] in [Seitz’s] death,” but not mentioning how, though a shoelace was found around the victim’s neck.
Freeman was seen later that day driving Seitz’s pickup truck, and around 2:00 p.m., he got into an accident, rear-ending a semi-trailer at the intersection of Common and Hayes roads, fleeing the scene before Roseville and Warren police arrived. He was finally arrested two days later, on Saturday, October 29, in Waterford.
After several mental competency exams and being charged with assaulting a prison guard and for damaging jail property, Freeman was finally bound over from Roseville District Court 39A last week on Thursday, November 9, 2023. Originally only charged with three felonies, including first degree homicide, concealing a person’s death and receiving/concealing stolen property, prosecutors recently added three more charges, such as first degree premeditated murder, first degree home invasion, and second degree criminal sexual conduct.
He is due back before a judge on November 27 at 1:30 p.m. for the murder case, though he is to make another appearance sooner related to the guard assault charge.
