In addition to welcoming the three new board members and wishing the outgoing ones well, the Sandusky School Board approved a contract for renovation work on the tennis courts and thanked the community again for approving the district’s operating millage.
Their first meeting since the recall election on November 7, the board reappointed officers, with Carolyn Stoutenburg stepping up to the helm of board president and trustee Robert Hassler succeeding her as vice president. Trustee Justin Radloff was appointed to be treasurer, with secretary Norah Harding retaining her role.
Harding later noted to the board and audience that there was nothing to note from the last finance meeting, as that had been spent discussing what would need to be done if the millage had not been approved. Superintendent Kurt Dennis also thanked the community members and local businesses for voting yes on the measure, taking time during his report to express his appreciation. The millage renewal will see the district collecting a little more than $1.4 million in 2024.
Also on the agenda for the night was approving the lease of two new buses for almost $50,000, and approving a $284,145 contract with Pyramid Paving & Contracting for tennis court renovation.
With their meeting originally and accidentally scheduled to coincide with the district’s winter band concert on Monday, December 11, the board rescheduled their meeting to Tuesday, December 12, at 6:00 p.m.
