California authorities are currently on the lookout for a Huron County woman last seen a week ago on a hiking trail.

Ann Herford, a 66-year-old travel nurse from Elkton, Michigan, was reported missing November 15 after not showing up for work. Herford, who was staying alone at a California hotel, expressed interest in hiking during a breakfast with a friend on November 11. Family members note she enjoyed hiking but lacked wilderness survival skills, never planning more than a couple of miles at a time.

Her car was found near the trailhead of the Arnold Rim hiking trail in California, about 100 miles southeast of Sacramento. With the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies beginning the search, the search has expanded since Wednesday to include, at its peak, over 100 searchers, several canine teams, aerial search equipment and more.

Despite best efforts, Herford has not been found yet, with searchers returning to the trail as recently as November 21 to search for her.
